managing director

Taylor Williams is a Managing Director at Onward Recruiting, though she thinks of herself as a professional matchmaker and career strategist.

A licensed attorney, she combines the strategic mindset and negotiation skills of a lawyer with the emotional intelligence and empathy of a trusted advisor.

By understanding the true priorities of each Partner, Associate, law firm, and in-house legal team she works with, she aligns people with opportunities that are a genuine fit on both sides.

OFF THE CLOCK

Favorite Place in the World:
Newfoundland - a little island off the East Coast of Canada. Flying into the north part of The Rock feels like you’ve landed in Jurassic Park and getting “Screeched In” is an absolute must. Four of my best friends are Newfies - we met ten years ago on a bus tour across Europe and are open to location suggestions for an epic reunion trip!

Book Genre of Choice:
Non-fiction, celebrity memoirs are my guilty pleasure and I’m a sucker for an airport’s self-help section. Preferably audiobooks for the former so it feels like they are personally telling me their life story. You can’t go wrong with Tell Me Everything by Friday Night Light’s Minka Kelly (she does) and the Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop.

Weirdly Obsessed With…
Travel hacking. My Super Bowl was booking a luxe ten day trip to Costa Rica for two with lodging averaging $45 and 16k Chase points per person per night. It’s definitely the Midwesterner in me but the high from scoring those deals gave that trip of a lifetime a run for its money.

Where’s That Accent From:
Born and raised a Sconnie (that’s Wisconsin for the non-cheeseheads), I traded the Frozen Tundra for five warm years down South, and eventually returned to the Midwest homeland. Between Atlanta for law school and Dallas for work, all of y’all will catch a ‘bless your heart’ between an ‘ope’ and an ‘uffda’ at some point.

Comfort Meal:
Classic steak and potatoes when dining out, and anything home-cooked by my partner. Growing up, my dad grilled and my mom baked … and I never learned to cook. Though Southerners were appalled by a woman who only makes reservations, it turns out I do not have to choose between a lifetime of microwave meals or spending the big bucks on a live-in chef. When Andrew explained that his way of showing people his love is through cooking, I knew I found my person.

My Mantra:
Fortune favors the bold. Solo traveling taught me that good things come when you put yourself out there and try new things. Even if you initially explore your interests alone, good people know good people and you’ll find your tribe. You’ll also learn you are capable of more than you realize.
