Belene is an Administrative Assistant at Onward, supporting the recruiting team behind the scenes so recruiters can focus on clients and candidates.
She comes from financial services, where as a debt counselor and financial advisor she helped people under pressure build workable budgets and negotiated with creditors on their behalf. That work taught her to stay calm, listen first and follow through.
Earlier, in hospitality, she learned to anticipate what people need before they ask.
At Onward, she brings that same steadiness and care to every task, big or small. She wants to be the person the team can hand something to and know it's handled.
OFF THE CLOCK
A few things that shape me: The people around me: great friends and a family that always has my back. Starting work young also taught me to work hard and protect my time off.
Most people are surprised to learn: I make a lot of my own clothes, and I knit and crochet too.
Outside of work, I'm usually: On the water. I love water sports.
Something I've done just for the experience: Moving to Cape Town on my own in my matric year. Hard, but so rewarding.
A personal interest I take very seriously: My padel game.
A small thing that brings me outsized joy: Puppies, and really any animal.
Something I'll probably always make time for: Movie nights with friends. I'm a proper movie fanatic.
