OFF THE CLOCK
I love nature. Whether it’s a weather front, the sound of water, quiet of a snowfall, birds, critters, flora and fauna, I find perspective outdoors. I’m also a fitness enthusiast and enjoy strength training, various types of cardio, yoga, Pilates, and little tai chi. Exercise balances my passion for eating and preparing seasonal meals to enjoy with family and friends.
Favorite Place:
There’s nothing more joyous than being on a beach watching my dog, Pearl, retrieve in the surf. The Outer Banks of North Carolina is one my favorite beaches.
What Most People Don’t Know About Me:
I’m a lifelong writer with a love of music, theater, film, and books (particularly memoirs). I once wanted to pursue a career in acting. One of the poems I wrote as a teen was turned into a greeting card. While my son was growing up, I wrote several children’s stories. I hope to publish them and other creative writing pieces in the future.
What Shaped Me:
My mother grew up on a farm in Kansas that’s still in the family. My father was the son of Italian immigrants and lived above a shoe shop in New York. Later going on to attended the USMA at West Point. My parents were kind, hardworking, humble, and liked a good laugh. Their influence is my north star in life.
Favorite Sayings:
When my dad used to wake me up in the morning, he’d open the blinds and say,
“Today is another day in which to excel!”
